In a well-known part of the Bible narrative, the story of David and Bathsheba has echoes today, with abuse of vulnerable women by the rich and powerful. However, the problem of sin comes closer to home as we will all be held to account for what we think, say and do.

Jesus Christ is the only one designated to bring about God's purposes - and that has implications for us as ordinary people. Giving our lives to him makes us vulnerable - but God promises to help us in so many ways.
